List,
FWIW to anyone, I think I may have made my Lowell down bearing
guage a little more bearable. I've noticed that while trying to set the
feet on the string each time it wanted to rock a little towards the
adjustment screw side. I thought it was a weight issue so I got a small key
lead weight and taped it under the horizontal body of the gauge right
behind the adjustment screw. Now it seems to work a great deal better and I
think I've at least achieved the consistency that I was looking for. I also
made an even deeper groove on the feet and that seemed to help too. Thanks
to everyone for their thoughts.
