Hi Jack,

Sorry I'm a day or two late responding, hope this arrives in time to be of some help.

I recently bought the Delta 14" 28-475X, and am very satisfied with it. Costs more than other 14" bandsaws in Delta's lineup, and more than Jet or Ridgid and many other similar looking bandsaws, but 1) it's made in the USA, not the Pacific Rim, 2) it has a 5-year warranty, and 3) the dealer I bought it from is a Delta Industrial service center, meaning they are competent to fix anything that goes wrong. If you've ever had a problem with a big-ticket piece of machinery, you know how valuable this last item is.

Two or three other pieces of advice: The rip fence is not included, costs $130, shop around for a 3rd party fence that's more precise and sturdy than the Delta. For blades, and good advice on how to tension them, visit suffolkmachinery.com. If you don't have dust collection, you'll want to get it for your bandsaw. My bandsaw was the last straw in an already overcrowded shop - I have since put everything on wheels, the Delta mobile base for their bandsaw is great, and right now its free with the bandsaw.

hope this helps

Mike

Hello

I am in the market for a new band saw and would like some opinions
I will be cutting pinblocks and bridges and would like to know which band saw would be sufficient. I want to know what size motor, blade, brand and minimum requirements.

Thanks,
Jack Houweling
