From time to time I find myself making up a name for something I've never heard a name for, or forgot. It just has to be accurate enough so when I read it in my records I know what I am talking about, and something that doesn't sound stupid to the customer reading their copy of the invoice. If I think it may have a real name, I will usually try to find it later in my piano parts book.
