A pip is several thingys. If you part off a piece of work in a lathe, =
the bit that remains on the piece is a "pip" which has to be removed. It =
is also Sherlock Holmes Orange Pips" and any small thing that sticks =
out..... (the mind boggles here. Susan and co look the other way) :-)
BTW I now have all the metals on the S&S and am about to start on the =
covereds. Then to gently tension it up...... time please.!

    What you call the 'becket'. Something left over from a totally =
different trade - that of roof tiling! Those little pips on  the =
underside of a man-made tile to hang on the roofing laths.
