I see nothing wrong with the idea, so long as you are frank with the person 
from the outset -- tell them you're learning the trade, and ask if they 
will do the regulation and answer questions for you. Or, you could ask them 
to do some of it and then keep an eye on you while you did some.

The only bad feelings I can see were if you got the person to, essentially, 
train their competition without telling them first.

I don't know your location, but in a lot of places, a good technician might 
be glad of someone dependable to send less-than-exciting work on to; 
especially if he or she knew that you would call for help if you hit 
something you couldn't handle. There are so many spinets and old uprights 
out there! Also, a lot of us aren't getting any younger.
