Are you aware of the YC expanding action phenomena? Yes, you can just =
lower let-off, etc. but you only have some much range for adjustment, =
and you risk having the action grow into the pinblock and get stuck in =
the cavity - then you've got a real mess.

This is a problem that will not go away. Yes, the proper repair can be =
delayed, but if the piano is to be used and not implode down the road, =
the brackets have to be replaced sometime. My recommendation to my =
clients is that sooner is better than later.

I picked up this Weber action today and it is now in my shop for action =
brackets replacement and a full regulation.

And besides, it is a fun, profitable job to do. And the piano owner gets =
a permanent fix to a piano that is otherwise permanently poorly =
regulated.

I highly recommend to do a search of the archives for "YC =
Growing/Expanding Action Brackets" if you are not familiar with this =
phenomena.

Ever see a YC implode? It's awesome!

Many Y-C's of that vintage have the blocking problem. I have had =
success with most of them by letting the distance of the jack position =
being moved further back. It takes the drop regulator tool.

I've got an appointment to tune a 1993 Weber microgrand tomorrow. Is =
there any chance in a zillion that in 1993 a piano with the name Weber =
on it might have been manufactured by Young Chang?

I last tuned it in 1999 and I see in my notes that I had to regulate =
let-off because the hammers were blocking. OH NO!!! We all know what =
that could mean!!! (I wasn't aware of growing action brackets back =
then.) Is it possible that the real reason the piano finally needs a =
tuning after six years is because the hammers are blocking again..... =
:-(
