Baldwin Piano Velle, electronic piano

Got a call from a college student wanting help with his Piano Velle 
electronic piano which he thought was made by Baldwin.  The problem 
is he is getting no response from the keyboard.  He can play the demo 
pieces (button selection), but playing the keyboard produces nothing.
He took it apart and checked fuses to no avail.

Digital/electronic pianos are black-boxes to me.  The obvious ones 
are: "turn the volume up," "press a button to select a voice," and so on.

Does anyone else have more to add, like "Get a REAL piano." :-D
