Hello List
I've just replaced all the front rail, balance rail and touch rail felts =
with Wurzen in my S&S "A" (courtesy of Andre, of course) The balance =
rail punchings are so very precisely cut they are a joy to use. The =
"crescendos" are equally easy to install and the results are truly =
amazing - particularly in conjunction with the new Wurzen back-touch =
felt. Like the "Crescendos" it is white as are the balance rail =
punchings. To remove the old touch felt I use a 3" "cold chisel" which I =
have sharpened on the belt sander to a cutting edge. It eats through =
that 90 year old hot glue with ease and can be used like a chisel to =
remove the residue and clean up. The real plus side is that I found very =
little regulation was required after! Once the capstans had been =
adjusted for correct striking distance ... that was it! The whole thing =
fell into place. Oh yes. At the same time I cut out and glued in place a =
new set of damper lift cushions on the key tails.
Regards from darkest Sussex
