Jack Houweling asked: "I found this in one of my tool boxes and would =
like to know what it =3D
is? It is aluminum, has Baldwin written on it and is about three inches =
=3D
long. Looks like some sort of gauge but I'm not sure."

Jack! I'm suprised you don't know what that is! It's a hammer =
shank/hammer square! It's used to "score" a line, (pencil) on the side =
of a hammer. Usually when aligning the "samples" when hanging hammers. =
Can also be used to check to see if the hammer is hung straight, (right =
angles to the shank, etc.)=20
I've got several of them. Baldwin made several versions. The one you =
have is the first version, (as far as I know). They used to hand them =
out in their classes on Hammer Hanging. The later ones weren't quite as =
nice, as it didn't have the "Baldwin" stamp and were a bit larger.
