Moving from Uprights to Grands

Find a piano? <g>.
Tune with the lever as close to pointing away from you as comfortable.
If right handed that will be on the right of the string you are tuning .
If a lefty I presume on the left side of center.
If a rightie Sit facing the bass strings.
With my stiff hammer and a 20% head I usually can get away with tuning at a
90% to the string.
But when the feel of the pin is not there. moving the hammer  parallel to
the string really helps
