Avoiding plate chipping the Naugahyde way.

I lay scraps of Naugahyde (TM) on the plate everywhere
I'm not working. Easier to work with than fabric
padding. Only leave a  small area exposed, like
surgeons do. The scraps are also easy to wash, in a
washing machine, and dry quicker than fabric.
