List,

I recently tuned a Yamaha (forget the model, but it was basically a U1) that is a midi controller when in the silent mode. The hammers are stopped by a rail before they can hit the strings. According to the sticker on the inside of the piano, letoff is supposed to be 1-2mm from the stop rail. IN the case of this piano, that left letoff a fair distance from the string, around 6-8mm as I recall (it's been several weeks).

My question is this: is that rail meant to be adjusted? IT's attached to the middle pedal, and it seems as though it CAN be adjusted, though regulating it was not mentioned on the little sticker. I left it alone and decided to seek the wisdom of the masters...

Anybody familiar with regulation of these?

Thanks in advance,

Dave
