Anyway if you did it like that they'd wobble all over the place when you used the shift pedal with the note down. Again, the "firm" would resist any small amount of "squirm" while uni-chorda-ing. (Grammer and Spelling Police please take a five minute break.<G>) The softer felt would not fair so well> Therefore, each type of felt requires a different technique, IMO. Lastly, you seem to have a general attitude of negitiviy, which, I hope is not the case, but simply a mis-enterpretation of your post.
