Thanks Kerry, this is exactly what I had in mind, and simple too.

Hi Bill,

I have been using a case nail attached to my palm nailer with a hose clamp.
I have a leather cap that fits over the end to protect the frame finish.
When the nail head contacts the frame, the palm nailer stops. I find that I
have very little leveling to do when the job is finished. You have to
experiment to what length you make the nail, anyway it makes the job much
faster.

I am going to attempt my first stringing job with a palm nailer (done many
the traditional 2 lb hammer way) and need an explanation of how to modify
the tip to get the proper pin height. Someone touched on this at one of the
rebuilding classes in Rochester, but I wasn't at all clear about it.
Pictures would be nice, and any other info on procedure and things to watch
out for would also be greatly appreciated. The piano is a small Baldwin
grand, model E, and the palm nailer is a cheapy from Harbor Freight, but
seems to work alright.

Thanks, Bill Costanzo
