Button Bushing Quandry

Hello List:

I have obstinate button bushings. The balance rail pins are 0.143 (I know,
I know
but I’ve checked, rechecked and checked again—throughout the
keyboard, mic set at 0.146 slips right on, tightens to 0.143), and the
mortises are 7/32. Front rail pins are 0.146, mortises ¼, even. The 0.146
mortise sizing cauls (Spurlock) won’t fit in the button mortises. With
Renner “Thin” bushing cloth, a 0.125 final caul gives about a perfect dry
fit. The 0.146 final caul “will” fit, but very, very tightly (no split
buttons
yet, scary tight, though). So, is there a source for “super-thin”
bushing cloth? Replace buttons? Use the 0.125 cauls and “ease on down the
road”? Stuff in the 0.146’s and hope for the best?

Thanks for any advice.
