Wurlitzer Baby Grand

Ran into one today which had been "rebuilt" by a local some ten or so years
ago. Actually did strings (pinblock?), dampers, key bushings, took ivory
off and put on plastic. Left the hammers, and they're now shot. This is
the baby grand which has three screws through what might called the stringer
which extends down to the fall board, and actually holds the fallboard. The
non-moveable music desk is anchored by to microscopic screws at its aft end.
Very much a baby. Anyone want to venture a guess as to its worth. The
local said, ten or so years ago replacement was about $12.500, and now they
have it insured for something like $35,000……………………………… I suggested they
might want to have a professional appraiser do his work, as it seemed to me
if it had to be replaced, an adjuster who might know what he was doing would
probably want to shoot someone…….
