It is a keyboard layout with 6 rows of keys. Within each row there is a 
wholestep of notes to the next key. Look here:

The aim was to play with the same finger pattern in each scale. 1882 Paul 
von Jankó invented that keyboard. Blüthner, Feurich and Pfeiffer made some 
Janko pianos, but also smaller companies like Carl Heinke, Berlin. Actually, 
there was Janko association in Vienna 1905 and in Berlin there was a 
conservatory with a a discipline for playing on Janko keyboards in 1906. I 
saw an original piano with Janko keyboard in a museum for musical 
instruments in Berlin. Looks really funny.
