My Father purchased a Oslund keytop set up in 1959. When I came on board ( later) we made our own glue out of keytop material, acetone and camphor. How he made the first batch, I do not know. We used the tret from the notcher to add to or make more glue. I can give you a non scientific formula if you wish. I lean towards Jon Page for use in this case. It seems to be the way to go without too much fuss and danger of ivorine marring/etching of the keytops and fronts. Duco cement will not work I found out long ago. :-) Hope this helps. I'm looking for something more permanent than CA. What were these things usually glued down with originally? I tried Duco model cement once in a similar situation without great success. - Mark Dierauf -----Original Message----- From: Alan McCoy [mailto:ahm at webband.com] Sent: Monday, December 25, 2006 2:58 AM To: 'Pianotech List' Subject: RE: Glue for older plastic keytops? I've got a piano that was recovered with this stuff probably 40 - 50 years ago, and a couple of them are just beginning to lift at the overhang. What's the recommended glue to use in this situation? - Mark Dierauf ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ No virus found in this incoming message.
