Thats Right... seat of the pants don't you know. Got to be in touch with the soul of the plane you see. That said..... I have to raise a point of order in the discussion. Since we are not allowed under any circumstances to compare a piano to a violin I think it only fair to disallow the comparison to aircraft. The jury might consider the old woody byplanes that were sewed together with wire as an exception upon submission.... I have to chuckle a bit about the whole discussion. Doesnt take much to get the boys in the band steaming. But to be honest... arrogance abounds both here and in the world at large. In this particular case... anyone is suprised that Steinway adheres to a no ETD line and argues that the ear needs to be 100 % involved with no outside influence ? I mean... gee whiz guys, thats like asking old testament bible thumpers to bless boy George and his gay group of fellows. All that said... I've no doubt the tech involved is quite accomplished... hard to imagine keeping such jobs unless you're good. I use an ETD quite a bit... in the land of piano spirit as well... and I dont loose a bit of sleep over this kind of thing... If you're good at what you do... you wont go hungry... far from it. Life has its ups and downs for sure. But in the end...... how did the song go... "Dont worry... be happy" and.. I might add... keep learning. Cheers RicB ............
