I sure do pass a lot of hybrids on the highway in my TDI. I can still get 50 MPG, and burning biodiesel I burn no fossil fuel, unlike a hybrid which burns gas - especially on the highway after the power runs out. No engine modification needed, as the diesel engine is designed to burn veggie-based oil as fuel. Low maintenance (diesel means no ignition system) turbo charged (read:eat my dust hybrid) supports local farmers (commercial grade biodiesel is made from local crops like soy). And I won't be tossing a huge fuel cell into the earth at some point. www.biodiesel.org www.tdiclub.com On a serious note though - there are some really cool hybrids right now. They are great for you city drivers, and some of them boast some pretty cool technology. It's just that being a diesel guy - especially a biodiesel guy - I have to give the hybrids a hard time. Diesel has been so poo-poo'd in the U.S., and for no good reason. Especially biodiesel which is clean burning, and renewable. And I'm not talking about running a car on left over frenchfry oil. There is THAT kind of fuel, but that's not biodiesel. I'm talking about a refined fuel, made from soy, that costs less than petrol based diesel (and could be a lot cheaper if it were publicized and accepted). Yet states like CA won't even ALLOW the sales of new diesel cars. To answer your question: No, I haven't driven the Accord Hybrid yet. <G> Jonathan Finger Tom Servinsky wrote: > List, > We are in the market for a car for my wife.
