So I'm tuning this PSO little Chinese built grand piano with some brown stains amongst the tuning pins in a really noisy restaurant atmosphere. Can't hear much, but Tunelab comes to the rescue.

A waitress comes over as I'm finishing up and says, "wow, that looks really hard. I saw them trying to do it on "the Amazing Race" the other night...."

So maybe this shows a far greater segment of society how much skill is required to tune a piano than might otherwise be exposed to that knowledge....albeit in a cheesy sort of way!

I think it's another fine example of how far south we go now in the name of "entertainment". I'm thrilled that I missed it. Can't recall where it is that I recognize the name of the show from, but one can be assured that I have never wasted ten seconds watching it.

The guy giving the okay was pretty lenient, too. Pity the poor guy who had to replace those strings. I wonder if the tuning pins got loose from all that restringing. Subject: Amazing Race Did anyone on the list watch The Amazing Race last night. The contestants were in Warsaw Poland as part of the game they had to find a single string on a unison left flat and tune it on a grand . Once this was done a someone would play a little Chopin and determine if the tuning was okay for them to proceed. About 3 or 4 strings got broken during this segment by different contestants. The tuner replacing the strings didn't seem very happy towards the end.
