I'm hoping Honda decides to make a hybrid version of the Element. I like the fact that there is little wasted space.
I drive a Saab hatchback at the moment. Great car, ok mileage (around 24 mpg overall without engaging the turbocharger too often...:-), more without the roof rack), amazing amount of space in the rear compartment. But it's got 124 k miles on it. After another 80,000 miles or so, there should be a far wider choice of hybrids or other types of high-mileage vehicles.

I have an Element 2006. It is a great car if you put on heavy duty Bridgestone Dualers, and buy a non Honda air filter. The dualers will take 40 psi. I did this to take the sway out of the car. The best mpg was 24. I average 22. I call it the poor mans BMW. It handles like a dream. Subject: Re: car mileage Just curious. Has anyone checked out the Honda Element? I know two techs in
my area who have one and love it. I'm pretty sure the mileage isn't in the
40-50 range, but the space to carry what you need seems great!

Avery, I’m intrigued by the Element and am considering that model along with some others to replace my 2000 Mazda MPV minivan. (I miss my 90 Toyota Corolla wagon!) A friend has one and loves it. Mileage around 25 MPG according to his experience. Tom Driscoll
