T3: Today's Tech Tip Here's a handy tip when replacing old front rail punchings with the high performance Crescendo punchings. Since the center hole is tight on the pin, multiple removals during the depth setting process is a little time consuming and somewhat aggravating. That little light bulb came on as I was at about the fourth key: Cut a slot in a test punching for trials. ! So I cut a small wedge out. Slips on and off with ease, especially helpful on sharps. When cutting the wedge, don't cut flush to the circumference of the hole, cut slightly inwards to the shape of a keyhole. That little bump at the edge of the hole helps to secure it in place. Once you determine the appropriate paper punchings, remove the trial punching and install a new un-cut punching. It worked rather well with occasionally requiring a .005 or .010 punching addition or removal. It certainly dropped the aggravation factor close to zero. -- Regards, Jon Page
