What I would like to find is an appropriate foot control switch for this
thing so that I don't have to take my hand(s) off of it to turn it on.
Anyone have any experience with purchasing a foot control device of this
type?

David, Everyone is right. The first time is the scariest. And a separate
speed control will work (Rockler is the one I have used). And it is very
important that you don't run it too fast, as it can jump (I took a chunk
out of the bottom of a Steinway stretcher board when I used a rheostat from
my key bushing iron and found that the router blew the fuses- I said oh
well, full speed ahead). Upon insertion, it jumped, and I about lost the
thing. I had an assistant turn it on and off for me after that, while I
kept BOTH hands firmly on the router.
After the first time, however, things are more comfortable, and the tool
is GREAT. Clark
