Has the hammer shanks been tied down to the hammer rest rail like they do for new pianos? If not, find a wood stick or dowel similar in length to the hammer rest rail, but a bit larger in girth. Lay it on top of the hammer shanks and tie the stick to the hammer rest rail at every action bracket. The hammer shanks and shank flange are immobilized and protected.
