Hi Terry: I suppose this could be a longitudinal mode issue, but in a sense that is not to the point. The customer wants the offending sound cured, and I am in accordance with John Delacour in that the only real cure is to chuck the Yamaha strings and replace them with some higher quality ones. Of course Yamaha will not cover this cost of this, or even the Pitch-Locks. Patrick C.
