List,

The CA convention was a great experience in many ways, both for my chapter, and for me individually.

Duties wouldn't allow me a full class schedule, but I took advantage of a couple of really good ones. One was the action "re-thinking(my term)" class put on by Chris Solliday, Ann Gare, and Bob Marinelli. There were some great tips for action waiting, and clarification on many points I'd been missing for awhile.

I particularly enjoyed David Andersen's presentation; specifically, watching him work with hammer felt. Rather than needling by the numbers--15 pokes here, 5 pokes there--he manipulated the felt lovingly with the needles, finding hard spots, and knots to get the inner texture of the hammers even from one to the next. David's passion for what he does is contagious. It inspired me to go home and needle my own pianner!

Thanks to all who contributed,

Dave Stahl
