I've used these recycled, slightly sharpened, upright stickers for 
almost 30 years. (See PTJ -1980?)  The longer one for verticals, the 
shorter for grands, and i don't worry about scratching the soundboard 
if it slips off the temperament strip.  I find that the taper only 
allows insertion of the strip _just_ far enough to hold.

BTW, real low res picture, I know, but that white strip is a business 
card wrapped and glued on to identify and strengthen that slot area.

Even cheaper than a metal ruler... ;-}
