I'd rather see wrapped strings up to F3 (F33) or so and if there isn't a
transition bridge I'd rather they be on the bass bridge.  Of course my view
on scaling is probably about on a par with my wisdom of the economy.  I just
don't like funky plain wire strings at 10% of breaking strain.
