I have used a rag wheel on a high speed buffer with metal polish. It does a nice quick job, but does require removing the wippen and flange from the rail.

  Subject: polishing spoons

  hi list

i need to remove rust/corrosion on the spoons of a wurlitzer spinet. i started with a block of polita, but it doesn't seem to be getting the surface of the spoons smooth enough. what would work? is there a grade of steel wool fine enough to finish with?

  i'd appreciate any suggestions.

  thanks
