I also remember hearing several stories a number of years ago about a
hearing aid kind of device that was helping Pete Townshend, (The Who), with
his tinnitus, but I could find no reference to it.

There are many treatments for tinnitus and some have worked for people.
I was told for years by audiologists and md's that there was nothing that 
could be done. Don't believe it.
