Bedding the Patent Action

Hei Stéphane

On this one, the whole front rail is floating the same amount, and the
thing is stiff enough that even on a hard blow you dont really feel it
giving. I'm starting the action regulation today to get the thing up
and running for use next week... but afterwards the action will be
getting its rebuild.

One other question... the damper lift pedal is not original on this.
And if I adjust dampers to lift at 5 mm blow.. then the pedal doesnt
have enough travel to lift the dampers up at all really. I could remove
some stop felt and insert a bit extra felt to raise the pedal rod... but
does anyone have an idea as to how long the lever itself and what the
ratio is suppose to be ?

Cheers

    Hi Ric.

I face the same thing with my latest Knabe 1877 : the keybed is
    divided into
many pieces, at the back obviously to conjure humidity swings, and
    at the
front, indeed, same : the front side of the keybed is mobile, and is
floating, unless you screw it tight enough to contact the keyframe.
I don't believe that it goes about facilitating the shift movement.
    Most
obvious effect for me is 1° thump sound, and 2° finger landing
    feeling. I'm
sure there are some sound issues behind.

    Best regards.

    Stéphane Collin.
