John: Actually the "chemistry" of your ear causes the soft material Etymotic uses to shrink. After spending the money to get several new ones made, I had my audiologist make me some from harder hearing aid type material and I've had them for many years. dp David M. For at least seven years, I've been using the custom-fit plugs with ER inserts. They have worked great, but are not fitting as well now. (Ears change shape slightly as we age.) Rather than spending $150+ for the custom-fit ones, I thought I'd try the others for $12.00. I don't know if I have smaller ear canals or not. If the regulars don't fit, I guess I do. :) Anyone used the generic ones long enough to know their longevity? -- JF www.formsma.blogspot.com
