Heintzman 186 Conservatory Grand Problem

Hi Dave,
                All of the Heintzman's I have encountered, the 
stretcher is both glued and doweled to the rim/casework.
  A solution to the problem would be to block sand a small amount of 
material off the bottom of the stretcher.
If carefully done you should be able to get the clearance with out 
damaging the finish.  A Palm sander would be the way to go in the 
shop, but the client may not like the dust in the home.
