spoon adjusting without the tool??

Hi, Brian:
If you remove the key(s) from the notes you want to adjust, and remove the bridle tapes, you can push the wippen downwards to bend the spoon forward (away from you, toward the back of the piano). To recover the bend that went too far, lift the wippen while pushing the top of the damper lever with a screwdriver or other tool. Be careful with this, because it puts a lot of pressure on the damper lever and flange. I would not recommend this if the action is very old, and especially if it has plastic flanges.
It's a procedure that I would reserve for only a few notes that just needed a little tweaking. Better to bite the bullet, get out the proper tool, and do it right. Good luck.
    FWIW.

Hello
Does anyone recall the month of a recent article in the Journal on how to adjust spoons without a tool? I needed to use the technique recently but couldn’t remember how to do it, and I can’t find my Journal that has the procedure in it.

Thank you,
