Damper underlever flanges freezing up

I don't know any certain answer to your questions, but I have seen this before. In the few cases I have seen, the pins are getting some sort of black gunk deposited on them. I suggest pulling the pins out of a few of the worst ones to see if this is the case. I also observed that the bushings were rather black also.

I replaced the flanges in these situations. I was afraid that the black gunk would come right back. I don't know for sure if that would happen, but it seemed likely and worth the small extra expense of simply replacing all the flanges (so that the bushings are replaced also).

Check it out:

The damper underlever flanges in a Korean-made Wurlitzer are freezing up really tight. Should one re-pin or replace parts? If repinning is done, will it last?
