I thought walking away was the definition of thick skin.

SK,

Yes, sometimes it's frustrating when your question doesn't get answered
the way you expected. Been there. Possible reasons:

Unclear question statement. Incorrect pre-conceived notion regarding
what the answer is going to be. Insensitive lister with an axe to grind.

This is a diverse list, which gives diverse responses to most
questions. You and I can't control that. The only thing we can control
is how we respond/react to the behavior of the list. Post a question,
collect all the responses, decide whose to ignore or delete, thank the
people who tried to help you. If tantrums are ignored, they will
diminish, perhaps stop. If sincere helpfulness is thanked and praised,
it will increase. Can't win an e-mail fight, so just walk away. No
thick skin required.

Mike
