Now that i have mobile phone numbers for most customers, i have taken to
sending a text message confirmation. You can save a template message, then
you only have to drop in the correct date and time. This also ensures that
the customer has my name and contact number on record.

So what are your policies? Do you call the day before, as a courtesy, to
remind your customer of your appointment, saying something like "This is a
courtesy call to remind you of our appointment tomorrow at 9 o'clock".
