David, I am currently using a Senco nailer. It works just fine. I've never had it bruise the top of a pin. I've never needed any of the extra gadgets (depth gauge, etc.) of the expensive ones. I don't have the leather wrap either but then I'm not holding it that long. YMMV. I'd love it if it were an impact socket but would settle for regular chrome steel if I had to. I have a chrome steel one now and it's split. Must be 1/2 drive! -----Original Message----- From: pianotech-bounces at ptg.org [mailto:pianotech-bounces at ptg.org] On Behalf Of David Love Sent: Monday, April 14, 2008 8:54 PM To: 'Pianotech List' Subject: Palm Nailers (again) Suffering from a nasty bout of tendonitis, I'm considering getting a palm nailer for stringing. I know we went over this before but I have a quick question. Can you just use any old nailer and do you need to do something to protect the top of the pin from the plunger (or whatever it's called)?
