I figured that was the case all along. But it's funny how this guy was so desperate to "make a deal", that he didn't even notice I live in Hawaii. Or he's so ignorant of geography that he doesn't know you can't drive to Honolulu.

Rings a scam bell. "Shipper" pays with a legit-looking cashier's check, so you 
help him load the piano onto his truck. You wave bye-bye to him, and to your 
money when the check bounces a couple days later. 

Version 2, he pays with a much larger check than the piano's price. You give him 
the piano plus a check, and you lose twice. Careful.
