Subject: [Files] Question for Pianotech
To: files at ptg.org

I seek information on this action and I enclosed 3 photos to Pianotech. The
posting was rejected with no reason given so I believe the photo files might
have been to large.

I reduced the resolution of the photos as much as possible and still retain
detail and would like to post the question again to Pianotech . I believe
the photos are essential to clarify the question. Any help you can give will
be appreciated.

Thank you, Wayne Matley RP

Malcom Love upright circa 1898-1903. Good general condition for it's age.

I have been a member of PTG since 1963 and active in piano tuning and repair
since
1960 and have never before ran across an action such as this:

The piano has a standard upright action with the exception of having an
*adjustable wippen rail. Adjusted up and down with shims.*

More unusual is, the *right *pedal actuates a rod, like the damper rod, that
lifts a series of small levers, accomplishing nothing, so it appears some
part or parts might have been removed at some time.

On the keyboard side of the action are visible wires connecting adjacent
levers one each side of the wippens that lift when a key is played, still
accomplishing nothing.

It is *not *a player piano with the player mechanism removed.

The *damper pedal is in the center *and is obviously designed that way and
operates normally. Any information that could be provided will be greatly
appreciated.
