Jim The bottom board screws are probably just loose. If you've got the back strength, it is easy to tip the piano on one it's side and then just tighten all the screws. When bringing it up, be sure the other end of the piano is on a rug, or something, so that it doesn't slide away from you. I was working on a Lester Spinet Piano the other day and came upon a disconcerting squeak when the sustain pedal was depressed, probably the reason why I was called to tune it. The damper rail was a little stiff, but thank goodness was not the cause of the squeak (I don’t like taking out Spinet actions). Nor was the squeak coming from the dowel extension to the rail nor the pedal lever. At last when I removed the pedal spring I noticed that the squeak was coming from the bottom board on the piano. All I could think to do was to prop up the bottom board from underneath the piano, and the squeak disappeared. But, by propping up the bottom of the piano, am I risking doing any damage to the piano? What’s the ‘correct’ way to fix this? Thanks in advance for any help … Jim Keaney West Pittston, PA -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed...
