David -
Thank you for your multiple replies and the 
photos.  The method seems appealing enough, and I 
will undoubtedly try it at some point.  That 
there is, by now, history between list 
contributors is part of what creates its unique 
culture, but it doesn't explain or excuse scantly 
bridled rudeness.  As I said, I am much more 
offended by the suggestion that speculation in 
the absence of direct experience is meaningless, 
then I am at the tendencies of Ron's linguistic 
usage, however, whatever its motivation, I'd like 
more defined guidelines as to where the invective line falls.
