Julia I believe when it says, "but does not include professional organizations, etc", it is meant to say that 100% of those can be deducted. The entire trip to MARC, including your expenses to and from, hotel and meals, and registration, are 100% deductable on your schedule C. If there isn't a specific place for dues,?there should be a "other", or "miscellaneous" line somewhere.
