Your best bet is to contact a tax specialist. That would not necessarily mean the IRS, unless you want to call at least three times and average out the answers you get. IRS telephone people are about as reliable with tax information as, well, piano techs. Notice that your first response started out with "I believe..." Piano tech business writer or not, I wouldn't bank solely on that reply as a defense with the IRS. Plus, rules change from year to year, depending on how needy the government is (ahem).
