Hi Stephane, I like to rout the excess off using my laminate trimmer and a bottom bearing bit. The end grain won't have any problems with tear out but use a spiral bit anyway. The belly rail usually slopes inward so be careful how you set the depth of the bit (ie the location of the bearing).
