>What thickness of Ecsaine/Action cloth are you using? How long have you
>done this? I'd be curious about the longevity of action cloth vs. leather.

Each is about 2mm and fairly stiff, they were sample swatches.
I've been using them for about 6 months, the Ecsaine is pretty tough
stuff, it hasn't worn out on knuckles or hammer butts.

The bottom is cleaned with a dilute solution of Simple green,
sometimes two cleanings after an initial dusting. Then ease the corners
of the beams with 100 or 180 grit sandpaper. I brush on the acrylic.
I have sprayed it, the time it takes to mask off the s/b and apply one coat
is about the same as with a brush, spraying two coats would be a time
saver but with a brush I can lay on more material without runs.

It's a toss-up, some jobs I prefer power tools, some I prefer hand tools.

With a brush you can work in tighter quarters,
spraying requires elbow room. and then some.

I also lube the casters prior to set up. Refelt the pedal rod guides
and pedal pivots if needed. When the piano is righted,
I'm done with the underside except for trapwork upstop blocks
and those are installed post regulation.
