No Doubt your right about that. I restored an erard for a woman a few years back. The shanks were in good shape, but old wood is old wood. As I remember it, I think the shank can be cut from maple using a CNC router, but I can't remember the flange. I work on some vintage pianos with vellum flanges, but I believe this one was pinned. If you need a set in the future, I will definately try to tool up for it and run a few sets.

  thanks for the thoughts

This is more food for thought rather than putting in an order. I finished several Erards over the past 2 years and I check high and low for someone to duplicate a set. No takers.
This is one type of shank that the entire global piano industry could benefit from.

    Hey Tom,

I have seen those crazy shanks. I probably can, if you could send me one I would be able to tell for sure.

      Hey Everyone,

I have several sets of new wippens left to sell. \

My shop can install them on your action frame, or sell them direct.

We have mass-produced piano parts here in Virginia for custom actions such as Pleyel and Bosendorfer. I also have available axles and pestels for Vienese actions.

If you need my shop to install ivory, bone, or Mamoth ivory consider letting us renew your keyframe wood, bush your keys, install new wippens, tops, and send it back ready for hammers shanks and regulation.

anywho, we also hand carve anything, and build custom piano benches.

Happy easter season to all, and please feel free to check out our work at
      www.carvedpianoparts.com

or email at perrymark at hotmail.com

      thanks and God bless
      Mark Perry
