That's a good idea.

One thing comes to mind, and that would be anything with the aluminum 
plate.  Never happened to me, but something tells me it's more fragile 
than cast iron....but then again, I've been mistaken before ;>)  There 
were quite a few made during  WWII years and a little after...

Oh wise list,

I remember Jack Wyatt listing off a bunch of piano brands that are 
notorious for breaking plates. It would be great to compile a master list 
of these pianos and have them published for the benefit of posterity. 

Let the list begin! What brands should we watch out for?
