Hi Bruce, I used my eyes as well. I am learning this trade, and I am doing my best to obtain the mechanical mind like so many of you on this list have. What I do see is the damper rising and falling like it should. What I don't see is the damper wobbling around in the bushing. Where should I place my fingers to feel? I have felt the strings and the damper, but am not exactly sure what I should be feeling, or if me placing my fingers there supresses the problem.
